Cream Ale
Appearance: Warthog pours to a nice rosy amber color.
I smell fruit and citrus, however the beer
itself cant seem to make any form of foam.
Score 2.5/5
Taste: The citrus and fruit smell is now present on the
tongue. The flavors make me think of a much
darker, richer beer, but they end up being a bit
watered down.
Score 2.5/5
Mouthfeel: I found the carbonation a little too strong, not strong like a bottle of Coca Cola, but still strong on the tongue. I think this takes away from the overall taste. That being said it still has a nice mellow lasting flavor that finishes with no hints of bitterness.
Score 2.5/5
Beer Type: Cream Ales are designed to be low in bitterness, have a high carbonation and a sweet aroma. Warthog does a nice job of representing this.
Score 3.5/5
Drinkability:Warthog come across to me as being a light beer trying to be a dark beer. It has all the flavor of a good dark beer muted by water, to bring down the heaviness dark beer tend to have.
Score 3/5
Score: 14/25 Warthogs are generally pretty ugly creatures. This beer is not ugly, just misunderstood. If you would like to try a beer that could help you to appreciate darker richer beers Warthog would be a good stepping stone.
