Big Rock Brewery
American Pale Lager
Appearance: Gopher pours a nice golden yellow
color,much like its rodent namesake,
It has a strong bread like aroma, with
no retain-able head.
Score 2.5/5
Taste: On first taste I get a bit of citrus, with a slight
sweetness. Has a lingering yeasty and bready
quality. Overall it is fairly simple.
Score 3/5
Mouthfeel: Gopher has a nice soft carbonation, and in taste it reminds me
of a pilsner. Finishes crisp and dry, very clean.
Score 3/5
Beer Type: American Pale Lagers are meant to be yellow, fizzy with a
complex bitterness. Gopher doesn't reinvent the wheel for
sure fits the main standards for this type but not the more
subtle and specific ones.
Score 2.5/5
Drinkability: I could see myself shooting back a few gophers. The beer is
mild enough to have more than one, and refreshing enough to
have after a hard day.
Score 4/5
Score: 15/25 There is nothing wrong with Gopher. It won't be a pest in
your fridge, that you will have to pawn off on friends. People
who like to try smaller micro brews, but don't want to try
something too different.
